Ron examined very carefully the Cross-Hole that was set on a platform higher than the others. If this was indeed the site of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, then this would undoubtedly be the site of Jesus’ Cross-Hole.

A square-cut limestone plug, measuring about 13 inches square, had been placed in the Cross-Hole. This was presumably to prevent debris falling into the Cross-Hole. It had finger grips on each side.

Ron removed the limestone plug, and revealed a square hole, that had been cut into the bed rock about 3 feet deep, and 13 inches square. At Roman crucifixions the upright Stipes Crucis, about 9 feet high, was placed into this hole before the actual crucifixion. The limestone plug is now on permanent exhibition at the Wyatt Archaeological Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
